Hot Water Tap Spluttering
Hot Water Tap Spluttering. I have tried draining down and carefully refilling the system, but it still splutters. We have fully changed the water in our tank from a very mineral rich water to a softer water and the spluttering and spitting seem to have reduced.

If it's the other type it could be a partially blocked cold feed or partially closed valve in the cold feed. (your taps may bang and knock a bit during this) A compact valve designed for use with hot water heaters to prevent a vacuum forming in installations where there is the potential of the draw off rate exceeding the rate of flow to the inlet, this can occur in properties with multiple outlets below the base of the hot water heater.
From What I Can Understand It's Probably Air In The Hot Water Tank.
This aireates the water doing a bit, apr 6, 2010 #2 robbo79 member its a combined headder and cylinder tank if that helps guys? Plumber thinks it spluttering is due to high water pressure on water system, i think it's due to poor quality of taps. Turn it off for a minute again, turn it on.
There Is A Small Bleed Screw To Allow The Tank To Fill Half Way With Water.
The make of taps is scudo. A compact valve designed for use with hot water heaters to prevent a vacuum forming in installations where there is the potential of the draw off rate exceeding the rate of flow to the inlet, this can occur in properties with multiple outlets below the base of the hot water heater. Sometimes the spluttering stops if the tap is left running.
Air Getting In The Lines On A Well System Can Be Caused By A Low Water Yield;
Water into house is new 32mm blue pipe which provides very good pressure. A well being pumped beyond it's makeup capacity and in some instances from cascading. When any of either the cold or hot water taps is turned on the water splutters, as if there were an airlock somewhere.
You Are Aiming To Get The Cold Water To Flow Into The Hot Water Pipe To Push The Hot Water Back Through The Hot Water System.
Now turn it off from outside (taps still open). Wait one minute and then turn it on from outside (all your taps staying open). The pressure of the downstairs hot tap is quite good but it still splutters air.
If It's The Other Type It Could Be A Partially Blocked Cold Feed Or Partially Closed Valve In The Cold Feed.
In my limited experience i have found if the expansion tank is not bled you get air from the tank mixing with the water flow which causes the spluttering. When you refill the system you should make sure the expansion tank does in fact take in a certain amount of water. (your taps may bang and knock a bit during this)
